The 5-a-Day Method: How to Build Your Spray Tan Client List

Aug 19, 2026

One of the biggest mistakes new Spray Tan Artists make is waking up every morning thinking, "I need more appointments."

That can feel overwhelming, especially when you're new and your calendar isn't full yet. Instead, we want our Beettan Partners focused on something much smaller and completely within their control:

Add 5 new local people to your database every day. That's it.

You don't need five new Spray Tan appointments today. You need five new opportunities. If you consistently meet five new potential clients every weekday, those small numbers start adding up quickly.

Forty minutes a day, five new people

This is the entire daily commitment. No guesswork, no growth hacks — five small actions, in order.

Small numbers, worked consistently

Five days a week, the math does the rest.

  • 25 new contacts a week
  • 100 new contacts a month
  • 300 new contacts in 3 months
  • 600 new contacts in 6 months
  • 1,200 new local contacts in one year

And suddenly, you're not wondering where your next client is going to come from. You've built an audience of local people who know who you are and what you do.

Stop looking at your email list like a list of emails. Look at it like a room full of potential customers.

If you have 500 local people who have voluntarily given you their contact information, you have 500 people you can invite back, educate, offer an appointment to, tell about an opening, promote an event to, ask for a referral from, or introduce a new service to.

So how do you find your five?

This doesn't have to take hours. Start on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok and look for businesses in your area that already serve the type of clients you want.

Think:

  • Salons
  • Hair stylists
  • Lash artists
  • Estheticians
  • Boutiques
  • Pilates and fitness studios
  • Bridal businesses
  • Makeup artists
  • Medspas
  • Local influencers and creators

1. Follow the business. Then look at the people genuinely interacting with that business. These are real people who already live, shop, or receive beauty services in your area.

2. Follow and interact. Engage with a handful of people who look like a good fit for your business. When someone follows you back, you've earned an opening.

3. Introduce yourself. You're not trying to aggressively sell them a Spray Tan. You're starting a relationship.

Give them a reason to get to know you

For a potential client: a special first-time Spray Tan rate gives a new local contact a low-risk reason to come in and experience your work firsthand.

For a business owner: invite them in for a complimentary Spray Tan. One business owner could introduce you to an entire community of clients.

  • A hairstylist who loves her tan might tell clients all week
  • A boutique owner might invite you to host a pop-up
  • A bridal professional could start referring brides
  • A Pilates instructor could introduce dozens of women who fit your ideal clientele

Stop thinking about every person as one $50 or $60 appointment. Start thinking about relationships.

Don't leave your leads sitting on Instagram

Social media helps you find people. Your database helps you keep the relationship.

When someone wants your new-client offer, complimentary business-owner Spray Tan, or another promotion, ask permission to send it to them and collect the appropriate contact information: name, email, cell phone.

Consent matters. Make sure you follow applicable email/text marketing consent requirements and give people the appropriate choices about receiving future promotional communication.

Now that person isn't simply another Instagram follower. They're someone you can continue building a relationship with through the communication they've agreed to receive.

Pop-ups can supercharge the system

Your five contacts a day are the baseline. These are the moments that rapidly add people:

  • Pop-up — meet 30–50 people, capture 10–20 contacts
  • Free new-client Spray Tan day — 10–15 appointments, 10–15 contacts + content + reviews + referrals
  • Local collaboration — access another business's audience
  • Giveaway — email/phone required to enter
  • Referral promotion — existing clients introduce you to new local people

If you host a pop-up, don't measure success only by how many products you sold or appointments you booked. Ask: how many new local people did I meet? How many contacts did I add to my database? How many relationships did I start?

This is where it gets motivating

Don't promise that every database contact converts. Instead, show scenarios. Say the average spray tan is $55, and you add 100 new local contacts every month.

Conversion New clients First-visit revenue
5% 5 $275
10% 10 $550
20% 20 $1,100
30% 30 $1,650

And that's only the first appointment. It doesn't include rebooking, packages, retail, or referrals.

Your database changes how you market

Imagine you've consistently followed the 5-a-Day Method and eventually have 500 local contacts in your database.

  • A slow Thursday? You have people to reach.
  • Prom season approaching? You have people to educate.
  • Launching a package? You have people who already know your business.
  • Hosting an event? You have people to invite.
  • Two openings tomorrow? You have an audience to communicate with.

That's very different from posting on Instagram and hoping somebody happens to see it.

Stop measuring only appointments

Of course appointments matter. But when you're building a Spray Tan business, there's another number we want you watching: how many new people did you add to your database this week?

Maybe you only sprayed three clients this week. But you added 25 qualified local people to your database. That's progress.

You're building next week's business, next month's business, and potentially next year's business.

Your goal this week

Don't worry about 100 new clients. Start with five.

Meet five new local people today. Do it again tomorrow. And again the next day. Because successful books aren't magically filled — they're built one relationship at a time.

This week's checklist:

  • Find 2 local accounts
  • Follow & interact with 10 people
  • Start 5 conversations
  • Send 5 follow-ups
  • Add 5 contacts to your database
